For a cold, cold winter…

…Or just a fashionable one. These four pairs of leather boots will get me through the cold winter comfortably and fashionably.

Cool biker boots from Jimmy Choo bought in Harrods, Knightsbridge about a year ago. I will wear them with tight jeans or denim leggings and maybe a feminine dark-blue, double-breasted coat or a white faux fur jacket I bought at Topshop a couple of years ago.

Comfy Chanel boots bought in Saks Fifth Avenue, NYC in July this year. Even though they’re soft and filled with fur, they’re really tight from the ankle and up so my calves still look thin. Note: the Chanel logo isn’t as noticeable in reality as in this picture; I’m not really into that whole ‘please-notice-my-logo’ thing.

Lanvin boots that I got 50 % off at Kassandra, Copenhagen around two years ago, I believe. They’re made of a rougher type of leather than the Chanel boots in the picture underneath, and the zipper can just (with some willpower) be zipped up with tight denim leggings underneath. These boots go with feminine, rockish, and masculine pieces of clothing.

A pair of Chanel boots that I bought in a Chanel flagship store in London almost four years ago. They’re made of the softest leather and have stayed tight and pretty even though I haven’t always treated them well. The patent details are marvelous, and every time I take the boots out of my closet I’m amazed by how great their design is. They’re so tight that they don’t fit over anything but a pair of tights or tight socks, but you can wear jeans over them.

I’m loving Vogue Paris’ ‘Corps d’Elite’ spread by one of my top three favourite stylists, Emmanuelle Alt. The spread shows amazing model, Natasha Poly, and British model, actor, and cutie pie, Jamie Dornan. The spread was shot by fashion’s enfant terrible, Terry Richardson.

Thank God for Zara’s new web shop!

I live in city situated two hours by train from the nearest Zara so I was really excited when I found out that Zara was to open a web shop – which they just did! I don’t think they ship to Denmark yet, though, but now I can see all the fab things I want to buy when I go to London during fashion week (which runs from Sep. 17 – 22, btw). Below are some of my ‘have-to-haves’ (‘NEED-to-haves’ is more like it), and please take a look at Zara.com to make a ‘have-to-have’ list of your own.

A quick advice about net shopping:
Coats, jackets, shirts, skirts, and accessories are easier and safer to buy online than jeans, dresses, and shoes. Don’t buy the three last mentioned unless:

• You know the size is right (because you’ve tried the item on physically before, or because you know that you always fit a certain label’s size something-or-other), or
• You can measure the length of e.g. your foot when buying shoes and compare it to the item measurements next to the product and thereby see that you are very likely to fit it, or
• It’s really cheap (as in REALLY cheap), or
• It’s easy to get the purchase exchanged (remember to check if you have to pay for the shipment back and forth).

And still, if you buy coats, jackets, shirts, skirts, accessories, or any other wearable item, use your common sense and don’t forget the helpful measuring/size guides (Net-a-Porter makes useful ones).

Since there’s no way I can afford any of the Shearling Burberry Prorsum aviator jackets I really want, I’m gonna go with this 'Faux Sheep Skin Jacket' from the TRF collection which looks pretty decent. Plus, I don’t know how long the sheepskin trend will go on for so it’s a good way to work in the trend without emptying your wallet completely (£39.99 compared to around £2,000 for a Prorsum).

I have a thing for parkas and military jackets, and this one is just darn cute and feminine! ‘Washed Military Jacket’ £39.99 also from the TRF line.

Cool pullover from the TRF line which I could wear with blue jeans and my black patent Fred Flats from Louboutin. £25.99 – also comes in red.

I don’t know if this dress will look good on me so I will try it on in a Zara store. But the sculptural shape is just great. ‘Boat Neckline Dress’ £49.99.

With really high heels, this dress could be pretty fabulous for a night out, but I will definitely try it on before buying it to see if it fits my body type. £35.99.

LANVIN X H&M!!!

And Nanna loooves Lanvin.
Even though I’m not able to pick my absolute favourite high-end fashion label, I must say that Lanvin has been a long time love of mine. Alber Elbaz’ ability to create flattering yet wearable pieces for real women and his talent of integrating colours into his collections – colours I didn’t even know I liked before seeing them on Lanvin’s catwalk – have often made me wonder how the h*ll I would be able to buy all of those amazing ‘have-to-haves’ (and given me a recurrent empty bank account).

This is why I am SUPER DUPER EXCITED to see that Lanvin is the new label to collaborate with H&M. I recommend marking November 23 in your calendars at once – this is the day when 200 stores worldwide are filled with what I expect to be exquisite prettiness. Watch the video below.

CPH Fashion Week - Other Favourites

Wackerhaus

Danish Trine Wackerhausen, who got last season’s Max Factor New Talent Award, did a great selection of black, brown, grey, peach, and mint colours, staying true to her talent of mixing feminine and masculine elements within her collection. Great job Miss Wackerhausen!

Bruuns Bazaar

Bruuns Bazaar is known for its highly ranked campaign models (previously Carmen Kass adorned the pictures), and this winter we get the delight of seeing the Paris Vogue-admired Russian model, Anna Selezneva, who’s currently ranked #18 on Models.com, in the magazines.


BZR

BZR is Bruuns Bazaar’s diffusion line aimed at a younger and more rebellious target group than its ‘big sister’. For the SS11 collection, BZR did light tones in brown, beige, army, and blue (think Stella McCartney’s SS10 collection as inspiration) and mixed in some good coats and nice patterns and stripes.

In this look I’m seeing the toughness of Pilati’s FW09-look for YSL.

Moonspoon Saloon

Even though I wasn’t really into Moonspoon Saloon’s SS11 collection, I have to mention it because of its dramatic runway show (I wasn’t present, though, I can only speak from what I’ve seen and read). It reminded me of the Cirque de Soleil show ‘Ovo’ if anyone’s seen that. See the pictures below.

Minimarket

Take care when wearing a dress or skirt that ends just below the knees - for normal people (i.e. people not blessed with model length legs) it can "cut" your legs really short. To help your legs look longer, wear heels.
